The General Lee is designed by Brett Bakewell White with the design brief to make a small boat with a draft of 2.7m go as fast as possible and have the capacity to compete in long distance Catagory 1 or 2 Ocean Races. The result is an all-carbon fiber racing boat, built by Davie Norris Boatbuilders in Christ Church, New Zealand. NZ Rigging have engineered and built the spars with the rigors of distance racing in mind, including halyard locks and RCB systems for the maonsail for easy reefing. The General Lee carries exclusively Evolution Sails for both her inshore and offshore inventories. Sails are a combination of Carbon and Aramid fibers, along with Pentex laminates and woven nylon for the downwind inventory.
